Status and Perspectives of the European Semiconductors Industry
The semiconductor industry continues driving technological innovations at a rate unmatched by any other industry. Taking advantage of the economy of scale, it reduced the unit costs to levels that make its products affordable for almost any new applications and markets, generating sizable growth. At the same time, the ever increasing upfront investments reshape the business model and induce changes in the value chain. The trends in the European semiconductor industry result in increased demand for a deeply specialized workforce, yet flexible in addressing a large variety of applications requiring new knowledge and skills and emphasizing life-long learning.
